I was bored with the guest, Will Smith though. Seth Myers has a line-up of Amy Poehler, Kanye West and Vice President Joe Biden as his first guests. TONS of celebrities came out in support of Jimmy that night like his pal Tina Fey so I’m not sure why he couldn’t interview one of them. But I did like that he did call backs to his Late Night show like “Evolution of Hip Hop Dancing”:
I also loved the U2 performance on top of 30 Rock at 70 stories high because you got to see the gorgeous New York City landscape right around dusk. I loved that they highlighted the gorgeous city that they’ve brought the Tonight Show back to 40 years later.
Just like he quipped in his monologue “If you let me stick around long enough, hopefully I’ll get the hang of it.” It took him a little while to get comfortable at Late Night and I can only imagine the pressure he’s feeling (cough: Conan :cough) so I think he did a good job for his first show. He did all his jokes, he kept the conversation going, nothing seemed to go totally awry. The ratings were great at 11.3 million so hopefully NBC lets him stick around long enough.
